2007
This study set out to identify the kinds of achievement orientations that adolescents show, and to examine the kinds of antecedents and consequences the use of a particular orientation has. The participants were 734 Swedish adolescents (335 boys and 399 girls) who filled in questionnaires measuring their achievement beliefs and behaviors, depressive symptoms, engagement with school, and norm-breaking behavior. By using clustering-by-cases analysis, five achievement orientation groups were identified: optimism, defensive-pessimism, self-handicapping, and learned helplessness, and a group showing average levels of criteria variables. The results showed further that a decrease in depressive sy…
Faking personality profiles on a standard personality inventory
2009
Abstract A study is reported which investigates the fakeability of personality profiles as measured by a standard personality inventory, the Freiburger Personlichkeitsinventar (FPI). The results clearly demonstrate that subjects are successful in manipulating their scores on the critical di…

A second objective is to study the relationships between entrepreneurial orientation and gender, self-efficacy, and personal initiative.…
The Influence of Parents on Achievement Orientation and Motivation for Sport of Adolescent Athletes with and without Disabilities
2011
The purpose was three-fold. First, to analyze the psychometric properties of scales used. Third, to compare athletes with and without disabilities with respect to the influence of parents on athletes’ achievement orientation and motivation for sport. Participants were 173 amateur athletes (80 with disabilities, 93 without disabilities). Structural equation models revealed that for the athletes with disabilities, task orientation and the perceptions of parents’ task orientation were related to athletes’ interestenjoyment and effort-importance. For…
